Alembic Import 

Ornatrix provides a custom importer for Alembic hair. This is a great way, in conjunction with Alembic export to store and exchange hair assets with 3rd party software. Importing an Alembic file which has curves in it (regardless if it was exported with Ornatrix or not) will create a baked hair modifier and reference the imported file in it. You can then use the imported/referenced file together with other operators in Ornatrix operator stack.

 

Importing Hair 

To import an Alembic hair file:

1. Go to File->Merge...
2. Select the .abc file to import

Note that only Alembic files exported with Ornatrix (in Cinema 4D or any other host software) can be imported this way. Alembic files exported from another application will be imported with Cinema 4D's own importer.
