Ornatrix provides direct support for rendering hair with VRay. With the latest version of Ornatrix and VRay you will find the VrayOrnatrixMod in the Modifier Stack. When placed on top of the stack this will render Ornatrix hair directly in VRay. You also need to turn off any Ornatrix hair render like the Fast Raytracer Atmospheric. In addition because in this engine you usually set the hair render settings like size and overall shape you will want to add a Render Settings Modifier just below your VrayOrnatrixMod.
