Strand Filter Modifier
The Strand Filter modifier is designed to remove a subset of input hairs based on user-defined predicates. This is useful when you want to limit the display of a dense hair object to just a few strands while, at the same time, being able to see the overall shape. Filter can be used together with Edit Guides operator to edit a simplified version of a groom with more interactivity due to working with fewer strands.
Parameters
- Predicate
Determines how the strands are filtered out- Random
Strands are removed randomly, based on fraction specified - Even
Strands are removed in a way that their root distribution is kept uniform. This can avoid uneven holes appearing when using Random distribution, but this option is slower than Random. - By Group
Strands belonging to the specified strand group(s) are removed - By Index
Strands which have specified indices are removed
- Random
- Fraction
When using random predicate specifies what fraction of hair will be filtered out- Map
Allows to vary the fraction values over the surface with a texture map - Channel
Allows to vary the fraction values per each strand based on a strand channel
- Map
- Filtered Pattern
Pattern which specifies which strand groups or indices, depending on predicate type, will be filtered out - Random Seed
When using Random option provides the random seed
