Cheap Shader

Hair rendered using a cheap shader

Cheap hair shader uses a basic Blinn model to quickly simulate light scattering by hair strands. One of the optimizations includes the fact that this (or any other Ornatrix) shader doesn't process surface normals, but rather hair tangents to produce its shading result. This saves time and allows for numerical simplicity.

Parameters are similar other 3dsmax shaders:
  • Specular power
Controls the 'sharpness' of specular reflections
  • Specular level
Controls how much specular reflection is introduced (actually this is a multiplier for the specular reflection).
