FBX Import

Ornatrix App can import Autodesk FBX (.fbx) files as base geometry to grow hair on. FBX is a common interchange format for meshes, so importing it lets the App take surfaces straight from tools that export FBX.

Importing geometry

Import an FBX mesh to use as the surface a groom grows on. When the file contains several objects, a dialog lets you choose which ones to bring in, and each object keeps its position from the FBX scene. Every imported object is used like any other base surface - for example as the input to Guides from Mesh Operator. See Importing and Exporting Geometry.

FBX files are imported as meshes only, baked into the groom. Vertex positions, polygons, normals (generated automatically when the file has none) and the first texture coordinate channel are read; hair, skeletons and animation contained in an FBX file are ignored.
