Normalize Strands Operator
The Normalize Strands operator de-tangles hair by gently straightening out the direction of strands, removing self-intersections and knots. It can be used at any point in the stack to clean up strands while grooming, and is especially useful for preparing hair for simulation or rendering, where overlapping strands cause problems.
What it does
The operator applies a direction-normalization algorithm that nudges strands apart so they no longer pass through one another. This produces cleaner partings and reduces the tangling that can build up after heavy editing or layered styling.
Important: bake before animating
The operator re-computes on every frame to keep strands de-tangled. During an animation this per-frame recomputation can cause visible flickering. Because Normalize Strands is meant for use during grooming, you should bake it before rendering or animating, which freezes a clean result and stops the flicker. See Baking Hair and Guides.
