Guides from Hair Operator

The Guides from Hair operator converts a hair object back into guides. This is useful when hair has been produced by an operator that outputs dense hair - such as Hair from Guides Operator or Hair from Mesh Strips Operator - and you then need to edit it with an operator that works only on guides, such as the Edit Guides Operator.

Why convert hair to guides

Some operations are only available on guides, because guides carry extra information and are meant for editing. By turning hair into guides, you can hand-edit, brush, or assign data to strands that were originally generated as dense hair. After editing, you can generate hair again further up the stack if needed.

Using the operator

Add Guides from Hair to the stack above the operator that produces the hair you want to treat as guides. The strands below become guides at that point in the stack, ready for guide-only operators placed above. See The Operator Stack and Hair and Guides.
