What's New
Ornatrix App is the standalone version of Ornatrix - a complete hair, fur, and feather grooming application that runs on its own, without a host 3D program. It brings the Ornatrix grooming engine into a dedicated, purpose-built environment.
Highlights
- A dedicated grooming application - the full Ornatrix operator set in an application designed entirely around hair work, rather than a plugin inside a host. See About Ornatrix App.
- Real-time Vulkan viewport - a fast, GPU-accelerated view with perspective and orthographic views, multiple cameras, and an optional multi-window mode. See Viewport Navigation and Display.
- Operator stack and node graph - build grooms as a linear stack or as a branching network, two views of the same groom. See The Operator Stack and The Node Graph.
- Interactive grooming tools - brushes, draw-strands, surface combing, parting, and texture painting, all in the viewport. See Working with the Grooming Tools.
- Reusable presets - save and re-apply sets of values on tools, operators, and grooms, with each groom's presets stored inside the groom file. See Editing Operator Properties.
- Built-in physically based rendering - preview grooms with two physically based renderers: the interactive Cycles path tracer (Realistic display mode) and AMD Radeon ProRender with MaterialX materials (Raytraced display mode). See Rendering with Cycles and Rendering with ProRender.
- Pipeline interchange - import meshes and hair from Alembic and USD, and export finished hair back out. See Importing and Exporting Geometry.
- Self-contained groom files - save complete sessions as portable
.oxzarchives that can embed their assets and open in any version of Ornatrix. See Saving and Loading Grooms. - Python scripting - automate and extend the application from the built-in console. See Scripting with the Python Console.
- Localized interface - available in several languages. See Changing the Interface Language.
