Gravity Operator
The Gravity operator is a quick, intuitive way to fake the pull of gravity on hair without running a simulation. It bends strands downward (or in any direction you choose), with a profile that controls how much the effect builds along the length of each strand - so roots stay put while tips droop, as real hair does under its own weight.
Controlling the effect
- A global amount sets the overall strength of the pull.
- A slope profile adjusts how gravity is applied along the strand length, and can also be driven by a map.
- A direction sets which way strands are pulled, usually down.
- Optional collision objects stop strands from passing into them, so hair rests on shoulders or props instead of sinking through.
When to use it
Gravity is ideal for settling a groom into a believable resting shape cheaply, and for art-directing droop without the cost and unpredictability of dynamics. For true motion and settling under simulation, use the Moov Physics Operator instead.
Targeting strands
A strand group parameter limits the operator to part of a groom, letting you apply different amounts of droop to different regions.
