Oscillator Operator
The Oscillator operator is a procedural dynamics tool that fakes the follow-through and inertia of hair without running a full simulation. It predicts how strands would lag and swing behind a moving object, adding a sense of weight and motion cheaply and predictably.
What it does
As the underlying object moves over the timeline, the Oscillator makes strands trail and overshoot, then settle - the secondary motion that sells movement. Because it is procedural rather than simulated, it is fast, stable, and easy to art-direct, with no solve to wait for.
When to use it
Reach for the Oscillator when you want lively secondary motion on hair or fur but do not need the accuracy of physics - for background characters, stylized motion, or quick previews. When you need true collisions and settling, use the Moov Physics Operator instead.
