Holding and Fetching Grooms

Hold and Fetch let you quickly stash the current groom and bring it back later, without saving and reopening a file. This is handy when you want to try a direction but keep a safe point to return to.

Holding a groom

Use Hold to stash the current groom. Ornatrix App saves a temporary copy aside, leaving your working groom untouched so you can keep experimenting.

Fetching a groom

Use Fetch to restore the most recently held groom, replacing the current one. This brings you back to the exact state you held.

When to use it

Hold and Fetch is a lightweight, in-the-moment safety net, complementing - not replacing - normal undo and saving:

  • Hold before a risky change, so you can Fetch back if it does not work out.
  • Hold a promising version, explore an alternative, and Fetch the held version if you prefer it.

For keeping work permanently, or sharing it, save the groom to a file instead. See Saving and Loading Grooms.
