USD Export

USD (Universal Scene Description) is an open standard for describing and exchanging 3D scenes, increasingly central to modern pipelines. Ornatrix App can export hair to USD (.usd, .usda, .usdc), so your groom fits naturally into USD-based scene assembly and rendering.

Exporting hair

Export the current groom's hair to a USD file through the export dialog, which lets you control how the hair is written. As with Alembic, hair is exported as curve data that USD-aware renderers and applications can read, and animated grooms can be written across a frame range.

When to choose USD

  • Your pipeline is built around USD for scene assembly and layering.
  • You want hair to live alongside other assets in a USD stage.

For pipelines built around Alembic, export to that format instead. See Alembic Export. If you simply want to move a groom between Ornatrix products, save the groom file rather than exporting geometry. See Saving and Loading Grooms.
